Our Activities

Krushi Sampark

Mushroom Cultivation and Training

Krushi Sampark is working to support and empower women farmers of rural Orissa through Mushroom cultivation. Basically, we focus on two types of mushrooms- oyster mushrooms in winter and paddy straw mushrooms throughout the year. We also offer training in mushroom farming by imparting knowledge about modern techniques in order to help farmers get increased production. Beyond training, we also facilitate them with market linkages, conduct market research, and ensure farmers receive fair prices for their products. By supporting and guiding beginners, we aim to support the livelihood of the women farmers, enhance the success and sustainability of mushroom farming initiatives.

Farmer Producer Organisation

Krushi Sampark collaborates with FPOs to establish Krushak Kalyan Samiti in each panchayat of Kendrapada District. These samitis are mainly focusing on our farmers’ capacity building by providing training to 15-20 farmers on diverse agricultural methods for bountiful, safe crops. We conduct land surveys to inform farmers about their land’s potential for growing various crops. Addressing the local trend of prefering Kharif over Rabi crops, the samitis encourage and support farmers to grow Rabi crops, ensuring a sustainable year-round income.

Life Insurance Support

Even though our country’s economy relies heavily on agriculture, the life insurance for farmers is still overlooked. And consequently, leaving families vulnerable to crises like lightning accidents or snake biting while working in the fields. Acknowledging the hardships faced by these families, we at Krushi Sampark are conducting surveys and taking the initiative to offer life insurance facilities for members of Krushak Kalyan Samiti. Our aim is to support and assist these families during difficult times, addressing the overlooked need for life insurance coverage for the farmers.
